Apology to Mrs Jayda Torony

On 24 and 25 August 2020, 9News in Sydney broadcast a promotion for a report about a government deal to build a private religious school on land that was previously going to be developed into a public school.

That promotion included a short comment from Mrs Jayda Torony about the need for more schools in the area.

Mrs Torony did not know that the report was also going to relate to the building of a religious school.

If any viewer took that promotion to suggest Mrs Torony opposed the building of a religious school, 9News clarifies that Mrs Torony does not hold any such view.

9News apologises to Mrs Torony and her family for the harm and distress that the promotion caused.
