Andrews to release controversial East West Link documentation

Victoria's new premier says one of his first moves will be to release contract details on the controversial East West Link.

Daniel Andrews says he will seek advice later today about releasing the documents publicly.

"This has been a rushed and botched and all too secretive project," he told the Nine Network on the morning after Labor defeated Denis Napthine's one-term coalition government.

"I have a very clear mandate to release all the documentation, the business case, the contract and the side deal.

"We'll be getting advice from the bureaucracy later today about making good on our commitment to release all of those documents.

"I've got very different priorities and I think so do the people of this great state."

Mr Andrews said there had not been one "shovel of dirt" moved on the East West Link project.

"The road is not going to be built and the contract is not worth the paper it's written on," he told the ABC, when asked if he would tear up the contracts as promised.

"I stand by each and every one of the election commitments we've made."

He said Labor would immediately start on the Back to Work act, the first law to be passed under the new government, as well as removing level crossings and saving TAFE.

"We won't be wasting a day," he said.

"The work to begin those 50 dangerous and congested level crossings starts today as well as other important issues like an immediate injection of funds into our TAFE sector."

Labor's emergency services spokesman Wade Noonan will on Sunday be briefed on Victoria's fire danger, Mr Andrews said.
