American Pie singer Don McLean arrested on domestic violence charge

Singer Don McLean, of American Pie fame, has been arrested on a domestic violence charge in the US state of Maine.
McLean, 70, was arrested at his Camden mansion on Monday after police responded to a call around 2am, according to TMZ.

He was taken to Knox County Jail, where he was later released after posting $U10,000 ($A14,625) bail.
McLean lives with his wife Patrisha and has two children, Jackie and Wyatt.
An original manuscript for his 70’s hit American Pie sold at auction for $U1.2 million ($A1.76 million) in April.
He is due to tour Australia in March this year and perform at Byron Bay Bluesfest on the Easter long weekend.
