Owner fatally struck by own car while ‘searching for something in back’

A 58-year-old woman has died after being hit by her own car in Sydney's northwest.

Police say the woman was knocked over by the unattended Mazda CX7 on Ambleside Drive in Castle Hill about 3.30pm yesterday.

The woman had allegedly pulled over to search for something in the rear of the car with the driver, a 32-year-old woman, near the Excelsior Road intersection, when the car rolled.

Both the car’s owner and the driver were struck. The 58-year-old died at the scene as a result of her injuries.

The driver has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Police have since established a crime scene.
