Young dad dies in shooting in Melbourne backyard

A young father has died after a shooting at a home in Melbourne's west this morning.
Emergency services were called to Second Avenue in Altona North about 3.30am where the 26-year-old's body was found in the backyard with a gunshot wound.
Paramedics tried to save the Werribee man, but he died at the scene.

Detectives believe the shooting occurred as a result of misadventure.
The property belonged to the victim's wife's grandmother.
Neighbours say there's never been any trouble there before.
Police spent the day scouring for CCTV and speaking to neighbours to try to piece together the young father's final movements.
