Emotional tributes for victim of fatal Altona shooting

A Melbourne man has been charged with murder and will face court today after a man's body was found in a home in the city's south-west.

Dwayne Wright, 26, was allegedly shot near the door of his Altona home, with police making the grisly discovery of his body at his Civic Parade property about 11.20pm on Sunday.

Members of Mr Wright's family sent 9News emotional tributes, his grandfather, John Wright saying the crime is "inexcusable"

“To take my grandson from me is one of the worst things you can do to a grandfather,” he said. 

The victims aunt, Laura Wright, told 9News she hopes "the person who’s done it pays for their crime and pays for what they’ve done.”

“People who do this stuff need to understand that you can’t just take another person’s life,” she said, fighting back tears.  

The 48-year-old man arrested yesterday is expected to appear at Melbourne's Magistrate's Court today.

In the moments leading up to the alleged murder, Neighbours told 9News they heard some kind of argument between a woman and two men before the body was found.

Detectives confirmed the alleged murder, which is believed to have occurred between 10 to 11pm, was not caught on the home's security camera.
