A man is in hospital after suffering a medical condition outside a Bunnings Warehouse in Frankston. (9NEWS) 

A man has been taken to hospital after a scuffle with a security guard who allegedly caught him shoplifting in Frankston, in Melbourne’s south-east today.

Police have been told the man was trying to steal from a Bunnings Warehouse store on Gertrude Street about midday, when he was caught by a security guard and was involved in a “physical altercation”.

It’s believed he then suffered a medical condition and was taken to Frankston Hospital in a stable condition.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
