Alleged high-speed pursuit through Sydney's west that ended in dramatic crash caught on camera

Police have arrested a man after a dramatic high-speed pursuit that allegedly saw the driver plough through a fence at Fairfield in Sydney’s west.

Mobile phone footage captured the pursuit’s dramatic conclusion, complete with police swooping on the driver in Nelson Street, Fairfield.

The 21-year-old driver is alleged to have refused to stop for a random breath test in nearby Station Street, before speeding off about 11pm.

Police allege the vehicle was 40km/h over the speed limit, before the man behind the wheel was dragged from the vehicle and wrestled to the ground.

Before coming to a stop the vehicle allegedly collided with a stationary car waiting at traffic lights, before it hit a guard rail on the medium strip on Nelson Street and came to a stop, a NSW Police Force spokesman said.

Following the dramatic arrest the man was taken to Fairfield police station and later charged with driving with a suspended license, driving in a manner dangerous, being involved in a pursuit and resisting arrest.

The man was refused bail, to appear at Parramatta Local Court later today.
