Aldi apologises for rebranding Coles deodorant
Budget supermarket chain Aldi has apologised after a customer purchased a can of shoe deodoriser, only to discover that it was actually Coles-brand underarm deodorant.
Beck Wills posted a video to Facebook last week in which she exposes the rebranded product by peeling off the Aldi label to reveal the aerosol's true colours beneath.
"Well I'll be f---ed – look at that," Ms Wills says as she unsticks the teal "Powerforce Shoe Deodoriser" decal wrapped around the original purple "Sensitive for Women" label.
"Mind you, ALDI sold it as a shoe deodorizer spray," she says.
Aldi Australia confirmed as much, apologising for the misappropriation in a statement and assuring customers the product has been removed from shelves – but apparently begged to differ as to what kind of smell it is intended to conceal.
"We have withdrawn the product from sale and are investigating the error, however we can confirm the product is a shoe deodoriser and the content is true to the ALDI packaging," the company said.
"You can continue to use the product for its stated purpose, or you are welcome to return it to your local ALDI for a full. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
