Aging gracefully: luxury retirement village coming to Sydney’s inner-west

The future of retirement living is coming to Sydney, with a state-of-the-art luxury nursing home being built in the city’s inner-west.

The Cardinal Freeman “vertical village” in Ashfield has already sold 57 apartments off the plan, with some fetching up to $1 million a unit.

The facility includes a movie theatre, a pool and restaurants, with extra-wide corridoors and low kitchens suited to elderly tenants.

Just 8km from the city, the development is set to cater for our aging population, which is expected to grow by eight percent in the coming 40 years.

Included in the project is a four-storey, 133 bed nursing home, which will support the region’s nearby Nepean, Westmead and Blacktown hospitals.

The first residents are expected to move in around April of next year.
