After 13 years of waiting, ‘Finding Dory’ trailer finally released

The full-length trailer for one of film’s most highly anticipated sequels, Finding Dory, has been released to the delight of movie-goers.

Pixar’s Finding Nemo was released to massive success in 2003, grossing almost $A1.3 billion worldwide before going on to become the best-selling DVD in history.

Rumours that a sequel was in the works have lingered for almost 12 years, but the project was delayed repeatedly due to conflicts between Disney and Pixar over distribution.

Finding Dory will follow one of Nemo’s most beloved characters, the amnesiac fish Dory, voiced by Ellen DeGeneres as she goes on a mission to find her family.

DeGeneres shared the trailer on her talk show yesterday, and said she thought the script was fantastic.

“It has everything I loved about the first one,” she said.

“It's got a lot of heart, it's really funny, and the best part is - it's got a lot more Dory.”

Finding Dory will pick up six months after Finding Nemo left off as Dory begins her journey to find her roots alongside clown fish friends Marlin and Nemo.

The film will be released in Australia on June 16.
