AFP welcomes citizenship revoking

Federal police believe stripping citizenship from dual citizens involved in terrorism would be another tool in their counter-terror armoury.

The federal government is drafting legislation to remove citizenship from dual nationals deemed to have joined or be supporting groups like Islamic State and says appropriate safeguards will be implemented.

"As many tools that we can have to try and combat this threat is what we're looking for," Australian Federal Police commissioner Andrew Colvin told Sky News on Thursday.
