Adrian Piccoli attacks parliament over Shooters deal

NSW Education Minister Adrian Piccoli has mocked shooting Labor frontbenchers during a heated uproar over the impending appointment of a first Shooters, Fishers and Farmers MP to parliament.

"Bang, bang, bang," Mr Piccoli yelled while pointing at Labor MPs in parliament today and shouting: "That's the Shooters party."

During question time Mr Piccoli vented his frustration about the opposition for its decision to direct preferences to Shooters, Fishers and Farmers candidate Philip Donato, who was appointed to parliament after a by-election on Saturday.

"What you've done is deliver a Shooters party member to this parliament," Mr Piccoli said.

"They want to get rid of the national gun laws. That's the deal that they did."

Labor MPs tried to object to the violent gestures, decrying Mr Piccoli "a disgrace", but the minister continued to take aim at targets around the room.

“I've got a wife and two children. They're eight and six. And we go on holidays. We may have been at Port Arthur that day,” Mr Piccoli said.

The minister said Opposition Leader Luke Foley had been spotted celebrating only nights earlier with Shooters party members.

"So what's he celebrating? AR-15 assault rifles? Because that's what they want in NSW That's what you've given them,” Mr Piccoli said.
