Army reservist dies in NT

The death of an Army reservist in the Northern Territory will be investigated by federal workplace health and safety authority, Comcare. 

The soldier was taking part in a training session at the Batchelor Institute when he collapsed at 7am today. 

Batchelor Health Clinic was called and St John Ambulance responded, but by the time paramedics arrived, the man had died. 

It's understood the soldier hit his head.

Defence confirmed the death in a statement this afternoon and said support was being provided to the man's family. 

"For privacy reasons, Defence will not be releasing further information at this time." 

Police are expected to prepare a report for the coroner.
