Adelaide teen found on balcony with gunshot wound, friend speaks to 9News with pet snake around neck

Adelaide police are investigating a shooting in what is believed to be a targeted attack on a teenager.

Officers were called to an apartment in Kurralta Park in the early hours of this morning to find a 19-year-old man standing on a balcony bleeding from a gunshot wound to his stomach.

Josh Ellul-Kerr, the victim's friend, spoke to 9News while standing outside the scene with a pet snake draped around his neck.

He said he came home and was told "your mate's just been shot".

"And I'm like what the f---, why would anyone shoot him? He's not violent.

"Hope they catch 'em.. Just hope he's alright."

Police are unsure of the motive of the shooter.

The teenager, from Kurralta Park, was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

Investigations are continuing and police are hoping to speak further to the victim later.

Police say they do not believe it was a random attack.
