Adelaide snake catcher forces out stubborn brown snake

An Adelaide snake catcher has been forced to remove an eastern brown snake that had been living in a family's backyard for two years – beside a 'snake scare' device designed to keep it away.

The Minards family, from Port Elliot, had grown sick of having to skirt around the brickwork where the snake had taken up residence and called in the experts on Thursday to handle the situation.

With remarkably little safety equipment on, the female catcher deftly grabs the deadly snake, which was well over a metre in length, with just one hand.

"There we go, that wasn't too difficult," she says.

"There is the snake detector, this is the thing that works," her male companion says sarcastically.

The snake, one of the most deadly in the world, was deposited into a bag and safely moved back to the wild, far from the Minards’ backdoor.
