Schoolboy rushed to hospital in critical condition after fall
An Adelaide schoolboy is fighting for life a freak playground accident.
The South Australian education department confirmed the nine-year-old tripped and suffered a fall at the Sturt Street Community School around 1.30pm yesterday.
His injuries were so serious that paramedics were rushed to the scene, along with a medical retrieval team.
The medical team worked for some time to stabilise the boy as horrified students and staff members at the school watched on.
He was then transported to the Adelaide Women’s and Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.
It is understood no other students were involved in the incident.
Children and staff at the school will be offered counselling in light of the accident, the Education Department has said.
