'True gentleman': Tributes flow for father killed when motorbike collied with car in Adelaide's south

Tributes are flowing for a father who was killed when his motorbike collided with a car in Adelaide's south.

Steven Hackett, 46, was riding his motorbike when it collided with a station wagon on Barcelona Road in Norlunga Downs about 9.40pm yesterday.

Hackett died the scene, despite the best efforts of emergency service workers.

The Port Willunga man is being remembered as a dedicated father of two, including to a three-year-old boy.

His friend told 9News Hackett always had lots of time for his kids.

"(He was) very, very family-orientated. It's going to be very hard for them, very hard," the friend said.

Another person said he was a "true gentleman" and an "incredible dad".

"The impact you've had on people that came across you in life will live on forever."

The 51-year-old driver, who was dropping a friend home after bingo, escaped injury.

She's told 9News she was travelling south and the motorbike was heading north in the moments before the collision.

Police are still trying to piece together exactly what unfolded.

He's the 18th motorbike rider to die on South Australian roads so far this year, compared to nine for the whole of last year.
