Friend devastated as man in coma after stabbing in Adelaide's north

The best friend of a man who suffered severe stab wounds in an alleged attack in Adelaide's north says she is devastated at the prospect of losing him.

Josh Lawson, 20, is in an induced coma in hospital after he was allegedly ambushed then stabbed by Sean Michael Bush, 21, at a block of units near Main North Road in Brahma Lodge about 12.45pm yesterday.

CCTV and mobile phone video shows nearby residents and friends scrambling to help Lawson, including a police officer who was first on the scene, using towels to stem the bleeding before other emergency services arrived.

"It's devastating, like if he goes I'm going to lose my best mate," Lawson's friend Makayla Jackson told 9News.

Jackson claims Lawson's girlfriend is the former partner of the accused man.

"There's no need … If you're going to fight, fight with your hands, not a fishing knife," she said.

Bush, from Gulfview Heights, faced the Elizabeth Magistrates Court via video link this afternoon after being charged with attempted murder.

He did not apply for bail and will return to court in December.
