Man narrowly escapes from devastating house fire
A man has lost everything but was lucky to escape with his life after flames tore through his Adelaide home this morning.
The fire engulfed his family home on Reid Road in Dernancourt early this morning, and the man, Tony, was able to flee the burning building before collapsing on the grass outside.
"The individual was lying across to my left, getting first aid, we gave them additional equipment so they could put some oxygen on him," Stuart Frawley from the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service said.

Fire crews arrived to battle the fire from various angles, but ran into challenges as beams collapsed from the roof.
Police, meanwhile, desperately knocked on doors, telling those nearby to leave.
Despite their efforts, the flames had already breached the roof space, resulting in extensive internal damage.
9News understands Tony, who lives alone and has lived in his family home his whole life, was recently unwell, and discharged from hospital just days ago.

He's now returned there suffering burns and smoke inhalation from the blaze, but witnesses say it could have been even worse.
"His bedroom is at one end of the house where most of the fire appeared to be," neighbour Ben Zachat said.
"So he really should be buying a lotto ticket when he gets out of hospital, he's very lucky."
Fire cause investigators and detectives searched the area to determine the cause of the blaze. The investigation is ongoing.
