Police swoop on driver accused of blowing nearly five times legal limit

CCTV shows the moment police swoop on an Adelaide driver accused of blowing nearly five times the legal limit.

The Evanston South woman immediately lost her licence and her car.

Police closed in on the white SUV in the backstreets of Evanston Park, only minutes from the woman's home.

Eventually the woman came to a stop on Greening Drive where she was breath tested by police who say she blew 0.240 shortly before 1am today.

The 36-year-old was immediately stripped of her licence and appeared to be guided into the patrol car and driven away.

Her vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for the rest of the month.

Patrols can conduct random alcohol and drug testing around the clock.

Two weeks ago, police picked up one of the highest drink driving readings ever recorded in South Australia. Police say the 41-year-old blew nearly nine times the legal limit and was found asleep at the wheel at a Strathalbyn service station.
