Adelaide driver allegedly blows five times legal limit after Christmas night chaos

An alleged drunk driver has been arrested after a chaotic Christmas night in Adelaide ended with him allegedly assaulting a police officer after getting stuck on the O-Bahn.

Emergency services were called to the Tea Tree Plaza O-Bahn interchange in Modbury about 8.45pm last night over reports a vehicle was stuck after it drove onto the tracks.

The Nissan SUV had to be towed after its front wheel and suspension was damaged.

The driver was taken to a police station for a breath test, where he allegedly assaulted a female police officer.

She suffered minor injuries to her face.

When the 52-year-old man from Magill was eventually tested, he allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.254 - more than five times the legal limit.

He was arrested and charged with drink driving, aggravated driving without due care and assault police.

He has lost his licence for 12 months and was bailed to face court in the New Year.
