Armed fighters spill across Adelaide suburb in street brawl

A brawl spilled across several streets in Adelaide overnight that saw residents hiding in fear inside their own homes.

About two dozen people armed with weapons clashed in Elizabeth Downs.

"Heard a lot of screaming, lot of people with bats banging against the fence and onto the ground," one witness said.

The violence erupted about 10pm on Loftis Road and Burdell Street.

"There was a lady screaming and it was a scream I'll never forget," one person said.

After police swarmed the scene, a 25-year-old man at a nearby address was arrested and charged with affray.

A 24-year-old man later arrived at the Lyell McEwin Hospital with head injuries.

Police said he was refusing to co-operate with officers.

Investigators have not ruled out further arrests.
