Award-winning young Australian actor Ryan Corr has reportedly been charged after he was caught in a Bondi laneway smoking heroin.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports the 25-year-old Packed to the Rafters actor was charged with possessing a prohibited drug after being apprehended by police on May 27.

He was allegedly caught with a freezer bag full of heroin powder in Castlefield Lane, Bondi, at 1.10pm, five days before he was awarded best performance at a Madrid film festival for his role in Wolf Creek 2.

The Sydney-based actor did not attend his first court appearance in Waverley Local Court today, the paper reports.

The court has been told he is likely to plead guilty when the matter returns in September.

Corr has been nominated for two Logies and won the 2011 Australians in Film Heath Ledger Scholarship.

He is believed to currently be acting overseas for a BBC series.
