Two sheep killed after burglary at Canberra property

Police in Canberra have launched an investigation after two sheep died during a burglary at a rural property.

It is believed multiple people broke in to the property near the Monaro Highway in Tuggeranong on Wednesday, and using dogs, rounded up eight sheep into a holding pen.

In the pen, multiple sheep were deliberately injured, which resulted in one of them dying at the time, while another had to be euthanised after being seriously injured.

The owner of the property arrived home on Thursday morning to find the injured sheep in the holding pen.

The home on the property was also broken into and ransacked.

Police are asking anyone who saw anything unusual on Wednesday night on the eastern side of the Monaro Highway between the paintball facility and Johnson Drive to come forward.

They also want to identify a sedan believed to have been made in the late 1990s or early 2000s that was seen in the area at the time, as well as any information on vehicles seen driving between Old Tuggeranong Road and the Monaro Highway.
