Labor, coalition win NT senate seats

Labor and the Country Liberals have both won Senate seats at the close of federal election counting in the Northern Territory.

Labor's new NT senator is former journalist Malarndirri McCarthy and coalition frontbencher Nigel Scullion has retained his seat.

Labor topped the primary vote with 37.44 per cent to the Country Liberals' 36.42 per cent, while the Greens secured 10.8 per cent.
