Kangaroo-cyclist crash on YouTube

Former Australian cricketer Bronwyn Calver has posted footage online of the moment a kangaroo knocked her off her bike near Parliament House.

Ms Calver, who was a member of the winning Australian team at the 1997 Women's Cricket World Cup, required eight stitches to her knee after the accident on Monday evening.

GoPro footage shows the kangaroo jumping out unexpectedly onto Adelaide Avenue and into her path.

"I escaped relatively unscathed with no broken bones but a severely grazed and bruised elbow, grazed hip and eight stitches in my knee," she said in a YouTube post.

"They don't call Canberra the Bush Capital for nothing."
