A man's been arrested after crashing into a bus while riding unlicensed and drug-affected on an unregistered motorcycle and possessing suspected methamphetamine and steroids in Canberra.

Three knives and a pair of extendable batons were also found on the man.

It all started in the northern Canberra suburb of Giralang on Friday morning when police spotted a man on a red motorcycle overtaking other vehicles dangerously.

A short time later police were called to a minor collision between a bus and a red motorcycle.

The 27-year-old rider was not hurt, but police found the knives, batons and small amounts of substances suspected to be steroids and methamphetamine.

The man also tested positive to a roadside drug test.

Police say the man's motorcycle licence had previously been disqualified.

The man's been charged with traffic, drug and weapon offences.
