Accused murderer denied bail in court

One of NSW's most wanted men has been denied bail after pleading not guilty to stabbing his flatmate to death.

Chang Jie Wang fronted Sydney's Burwood Local Court on Thursday morning accused of murdering a 23-year-old man in an Auburn home earlier this month.

Wang fled to Perth, before being arrested last Friday.

NSW police extradited Wang on Wednesday.

Wang's lawyer told reporters his client wasn't happy about the charge and would fight it in what he called "an interesting case."

"Things aren't all they appear to be," he said.

The sister of Wang's alleged victim was in court but wouldn't comment outside.

No application for bail was made and it was formally refused by Magistrate Chris Longley.

Wang, who required a Mandarin interpreter, is due back before Burwood Local Court on April 23.
