A 30-year-old woman accused of killing her two-month-old daughter remains in a psychiatric hospital after her lawyer told a Perth court she was too ill to apply for bail.

Melanie Anne Pears appeared in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court via video link on Wednesday where her lawyer Bill Harris said a psychiatric assessment had found she was currently unfit to proceed and the case was adjourned for a fortnight.

Pears and the baby's father, 50-year-old Tony James Paraha, have been charged with manslaughter over the infant's death at a house in Perth in January.
