Abuse witnesses targeted by investigator

An investigator employed by lawyers for a pedophile Christian Brother advised that an abuse victim's credibility could be easily destroyed, an inquiry has heard.

The investigator said another witness "would be very easily torn apart in the witness box", the child abuse royal commission heard.

Br Brian Brandon, a long-time senior Christian Brother in the St Patrick's Province, said he was not happy with the solicitors' strategy which put victims under stress and it was only used for Br Edward Dowlan's matter in 1995 and one other.
