Attorney-General's department to face grilling over Monis

The secretary of the Attorney-General's department will return to face a Senate hearing into Sydney siege gunman Man Haron Monis.
Department head Chris Moraitis will be grilled by the Senate legal and constitutional affairs committee on Monday over the handling of a letter from Monis to the department just weeks before he held up the Lindt Cafe last year that resulted in his death and two hostages.
The letter was discovered in a search for relevant material but wasn't passed onto the joint federal-NSW inquiry into the siege.
The Australian Federal Police's acting deputy commissioner for national secretary Neil Gaughan will also address the hearing chaired by independent senator Glenn Lazarus in Canberra.
