The Hundred: 'People are going to find out what Australia thinks'

What does Australia really think?

Andy Lee's about to find out in his new comedy panel show, The Hundred, and I was his first guest.

"You've trumped them all. You're actually the first person to take up the whole screen - 27.5 square metres of you - how do you feel?" Lee asked.

Boy, do I have some big shoes to fill - 100 pairs, in fact.

"People are going to find out what Australia thinks and feels about a range of different topics. We've got 100 people which will take up this screen, they represent a cross section of the community, and I get to ask them heaps of questions - from 'do you sleep in the nude?' to 'are you an anti-vaxxer?' Some might be both, who knows?" Lee said.

I asked Lee: "Are there any questions you've asked, you wish you really didn't have to?"

The answer: yes.

"We're going to cover off whether people have joined the mile high club. Do people even think the Olympics should've gone ahead will be one of our topics. Have you ever smashed a car and not left a note? All that kind of stuff," Lee said.

But why did the comedian want to host the show?

"Reality is always more fun than scripted and that's where the surprises come from. We put the call out and thankfully thousands and thousands of people wanted to register. The whole of Australia is represented," Lee said.

Also joining Lee are some well-known comedians and celebrities.

"We've got some tremendous guests locked in for the show - Hamish is going to come on which is exciting, and every week I've got Mike Goldstein joining me, who's fresh off a very strong Melbourne Comedy Festival."

And as we find out more about The Hundred, the more we learn about ourselves.

"What I found in our test shows is that I keep thinking I'm in the majority for some things, and then realise pretty quickly that I'm not. I thought far more people slept in the nude than it was," Lee said.

The Hundred could be the feel-good and informative show we need right now.

"There's not a lot else to do, so you may as well tune in," Lee said.

The Hundred starts on Tuesday.
