Farmer Wants a Wife bombshell: Farmer Sam faces serious allegations

Farmer Wants a Wife contestant Sam Messina has already responded to accusations he's a fake - but we can reveal he's facing much more serious allegations.

The Channel 7 personality has pleaded not guilty to seven domestic violence charges and has been ordered to stay away from his ex-girlfriend, who claims she fears for her safety.

The alleged victim has told police they were still under the same roof when he applied for the show and he's accused of not treating her very well at all.

His brother Josh is a farmer in Canowindra, in western New South Wales.

But according to his bail arrangements, Sam lives at a suburban home in nearby Orange.

"I love being a farmer because it's rewarding just waking up every morning and running my own race," Farmer Sam said.

"I describe myself a fun, loving, caring guy. I'm reliable with a heart of gold."

On Instagram, Farmer Sam addressed rumours he's a fake.

"The farm you see in the show is a family farm," he said.

"I never once claimed that it is explicitly mine.

"I drive trucks as a second income."

He also said: "I never had a girlfriend while filming".

"I could never do that to someone.

"It's not in my nature."

But A Current Affair can reveal the Channel 7 personality was arrested and charged with seven domestic violence offences against his ex-girlfriend - including four counts of assault - in March.

The woman said she was in a relationship with Sam from January 2019 and moved into his place in Orange in December that year.

From the moment she moved in, the alleged victim claims he started becoming physically and verbally abusive - so much so, she started sleeping in another bedroom after three months.

In March last year, during an argument at home, police allege he opened a door into her and hit her right foot, causing pain in two of her toes.

Then during another fight in early July, Sam's accused of grabbing hold of the clothes on her torso and throwing her onto the floor.

On the morning of July 31, police allege Sam pushed and shoved his ex-girlfriend and used his right fist to punch her in the nose, causing it to bleed.

It's also alleged Sam wouldn't let her leave the house until she told him she wasn't going to go to the police.

The woman suffered ongoing pain and bruising for two weeks.

In November, after the alleged victim woke Sam up, he's accused of grabbing hold of his phone charger and whipping her on her left inner-thigh.

The woman said she broke up with him in August, but they remained living together until December when she moved out.

In February this year, the woman said she received messages from Sam saying he'd been on her property and in her backyard and had taken her two rabbits from their cage.

He allegedly threatened to sell them and also said he would kill them.

It's alleged he then blocked the woman on every social media platform and she was unable to contact him until she got him on the phone and convinced him to return the animals.

He was then allegedly constantly messaging and calling her until she went to police. The alleged victim provided officers with photos of all of her injuries.

She claims she fears for her safety and the safety of her family because he will not leave her alone.

An apprehended domestic violence order was taken out against Sam to protect his ex for a period of two years.

"Yeah I'm terrible at dating. Like sometimes I say the wrong stuff and they do a runner," Farmer Sam said on the show.

"I hate being alone and I'm ready to find love and settle down and live happily ever after … hopefully."

Sam is due back in Wollongong court in September.

Mr Messina has no criminal history.

He has never previously been charged with any criminal offence.

He has always strongly denied the allegations and cooperated with Police in their investigation.
