Strata manager’s secret leaves residents outraged

John and his partner moved into a new apartment building on Sydney’s Northern Beaches three months ago.

“I got on the committee because I wanted to find out why the strata fees were so much higher than we were originally quoted,” he said.

When John, who also runs a community justice website, went digging he unearthed something else.

Jeffrey Rosenstrauss, the strata manager, is a convicted paedophile.

Rosenstrauss “pleaded guilty at an early stage to three very serious (historic sexual) offences” in the 1970s and 1980s.

The judgement read he was “occasionally placed in a position of trust” with a child between the ages of five and 10.

Details of the abuse in “the grounds of a school” and “an indoor pool, spa and a sauna” area are too disturbing to repeat.

A third attack came while “playing a game called murder in the dark in a bedroom shared by two of the offender’s children”.

He was sentenced to three years’ jail but released on parole one year later in 2012.
