Sydney's Northern Beaches Council is under fire after approving the 39.6 per cent rates hike at a meeting last night, equating to an average increase of $673, or $1600 for businesses.
While the council's executives get paid an eye-watering $25 million and the CEO takes home more than the prime minister does, locals say they can't understand why they're the ones coughing up yet another cost-of-living increase.
