Keira-Lyn trusted her doctors when they told her she was fine.

But hidden in plain sight was a cancer quietly spreading through her body.

The young mum first noticed something wasn't right in early 2024, when she found a small lump under her arm.

She did exactly what we're all told to do and saw a doctor.

"I said, 'hi, like, I've got some fluid here, there's a small lump under my arm, can you check it out for me?'," Keira-Lyn told A Current Affair.

"He was very, very dismissive at first, but I kept pushing."

After having to ask the doctor for scans, Keira-Lyn was told she had a slightly enlarged lymph node and was given the all-clear.

But she said the lump continued to grow, so she returned to the doctor.

"I actually brought up that I had Googled and I was concerned about cancer and that I was concerned about lymphoma," she said.

"I kept pushing. I got a fine-needle biopsy done, waited on those results, went back and same thing. I was in his office for all of five minutes."

Again, Keira-Lyn was sent home.

With the lump building fluid and becoming painful, Keira-Lyn decided to see a different doctor.

But again, no answers.

"She had my results ... I never got told anything except that I was all clear," she said.

By June last year, Keira-Lyn had moved from Queensland to NSW.

Exhausted, in pain and desperate, she booked in to see a third doctor.

"I showed her my arm ... and this whole big swelling and she said, 'why do you want to fix it?'" Keira-Lyn said.

It wasn't until after a visit to a fourth doctor that Keira-Lyn was given the diagnosis she dreaded, but had a gut-feeling was coming.

"My doctor said, 'look, it's not good news ... it's a blood cancer. You have Hodgkin's lymphoma'," she said.

"Stage 3 Hodgkin's lymphoma, and it was allowed to reach my spleen."

Keira-Lyn immediately started chemotherapy.

"I was shutting down. I had lost so much weight. I wasn't eating," she said.

The scans she kept from previous doctors told the story her body had been trying to tell for many months.

"I believe that when I first went in, I would have probably been around stage one.

"So now I have to undergo six months of chemotherapy."

That treatment is now saving her life, but it's also taking her away from the one person who needs her most, her three-year-old daughter.

Keira-Lyn has been forced to isolate from her family in a caravan to protect her own immunity.

"Me and my daughter have been together every single day for her entire life," Keira Lyn said.

"I've always been the one that puts her to sleep and all of that.

"And then, just suddenly, you know, she might just have a teeny little bit of a cold or something like that. And then, I can't cuddle her."
