The charity giving forgotten women their dignity back
After a lifetime of working, raising families and contributing to their communities, older Australian women are experiencing homelessness now more than ever.
One organisation is giving these forgotten women their dignity back and a place to call home.

The Forgotten Women charity has just opened brand new subsidised housing in Brisbane, giving 15 women over the age of 55 a safe, single bedroom unit to call home.
Forgotten Women chief executive Teresa Reed said a third of their clients are widowed, another third are divorced and another third come from either domestic violence or an elder abuse situation.
“Homelessness isn’t one pot of people, it isn’t one narrative,” Reed said.
“Drugs and alcohol is not the issue here.
“It’s literally just about not having the money to rent.”
