Developer pulls the pin on Gold Coast apartment build after buyers invest thousands

When 55-year-old single mum-of-four Ivana Jacenec poured thousands into two apartment units on the Gold Coast, she thought she was securing her family's future.

But the building developer soon pulled the plug on the 25-storey project, using the 'sunset clause' designed to protect buyers and developers if a project runs over the agreed time.

However, the sun hadn't even been turned on the Burleigh development, and the deadline for the project is four years away.
