Criminal psychologist's take on Cleo's abduction

A renowned criminal psychologist has revealed what kind of a person he believes is responsible for Cleo Smith's disappearance.

"We're talking about somebody who's very bad, not mad," criminal psychologist Tim Watson-Munro told A Current Affair.

Four-year-old Cleo went missing while camping with her family in Western Australia on October 16.

Painstaking searches for the young girl were carried out, money was raised, and vigils were held at the campsite where she was first reported missing.

And now thankfully everyone's prayers have been answered after Cleo was found in a locked home in Carnarvon just before 1am.

Today, Cleo's mother shared her response to the news on Instagram with a caption that said, "our family is whole again".

The discovery was made at a house just minutes from the family home, which was an even shorter distance to the police station.

Mr Watson-Munro said he believes whoever took Cleo "probably waited for the right opportunity to strike".

"They live in the same small country town. He might have thought about it for a while, but clearly to have done what he did, in such a brazen way and to have escaped the crime scene in the way that he did, to me reflects a lot of planning."
