Cousin's anger as woman's friend claims multimillion-dollar assets in inheritance twist

When Norma inherited a multimillion-dollar estate from her friend Carol, some assumed she had no family members left.

But then cousin Betty saw A Current Affair's story about Norma's decision to knock down the family's historic homestead in Sydney's south-west.

Betty and her mum Rhonda claim the family was not contacted when Carol died and is upset they weren't considered in Norma's demolition of the house.

But Norma says she's respected Carol's wishes.

Now, there's confusion about who has Carol's ashes.

FULL STATEMENT FROM NORMA DAGHER

Did Ms Dagher inform Betty, Rhonda or Paul Price that Carol Hynson had passed away? If so, when and how? If not, why not?

Carol relayed her funeral wishes to me while at the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse in February 2022. Carol provided me with the names of people she wished to attend which included:

o Me

o 2 neighbours, who attended

o Carol's Uncle (who could not attend)

o A dear friend who helped care for her (who could not attend because medical problem)

Carol did not mention any other names and Norma respected her wishes.

Why did Ms Dagher tell A Current Affair on 4 April 2025 that she was in possession of Carol Hynson's ashes when Rookwood Crematorium confirmed on that date, and again on 7 April 2025, that Ms Hynson's ashes were still at the Crematorium?

Norma was referring to Wilma Hynson's ashes.

Does Ms Dagher maintain that she has collected Ms Hynson's ashes from the crematorium? If not, why has she not done so to date?

Ms Dagher responds as follows: "I engaged Elite Funerals for Carol's service who she'd previously used for Wilma's service. After Carol's service, I called Elite Funerals to collect Carol's ashes. Elite Funerals advised that they didn't have Carol's Ashes and were unaware Norma wanted them."

Does Ms Dagher intend to collect Ms Hynson's ashes from the crematorium, and if so when? If not, will Ms Dagher authorise the Price family to collect Ms Hynson's remains, and if not, why not?

Ms Dagher responds to this question as follows: "I received a call from Rockwood Crematorium advising me that they have Carol's ashes. This was a great relief."
