Emergency doctor says vaccines are 'a beacon of hope'

Australia's vaccination program offers "a beacon of hope" amid rising COVID cases and on-going lockdowns, says one emergency room doctor.

Melbourne's Dr Stephen Parnis said a rise in vaccinations is a positive step in combating the virus.

"That is our exit strategy. That, to me, is not just a glimmer of hope, that is a beacon of hope," he said.

"If you can get yourself and your loved ones vaccinated as quickly as you possibly can, not only will you be giving yourself the best insurance policy, but you'll be increasing the chances of the rest of the community being safe too."
