The Department of Education treats all matters involving allegations of harm to students extremely seriously.

Parents and students can be confident that if an allegation of harm is reported in a state school, it will be dealt with as a matter of highest priority and in an appropriate and sensitive manner.

The department has clear policies that outline the expectations of school based employees.  

Where there is an allegation that an employee has not acted professionally, these allegations are investigated in line with departmental processes.

The department's guidelines for implementing "Allegations against Employees in the Area of Student Protection" is publicly available online here. 

State school principals manage instances of inappropriate behaviour in line with their school's Responsible Behaviour Plan for Students, developed with the school community to outline expectations and possible consequences.
