A 71-year-old Sydney man has been denied bail on charges of supplying cocaine allegedly found hidden in an air conditioning duct.

John Murphy was arrested at a unit in Chiswick on Thursday night by riot squad police and detectives.

Police allege they found more than 150g of cocaine in an air conditioning duct and more than 570g of the drug hidden in a pipe at a Chiswick storage unit.

Detectives had previously seized 600g of cocaine of part of an investigation that began in April, bringing the total quantity of seized drugs to more than 1kg.

Mr Murphy was charged with supplying a large commercial quantity of drugs.

He was refused bail today at Burwood Local Court and will face another hearing on September 17.
