Then in 1986 the duo split. Unusually for the music industry however, the break up was entirely amicable and their great friendship endured. George Michael went on to become a music legend in his own right while Andrew Ridgeley happily escaped the public gaze for the quiet life. Now, three decades later he's stepping back into the spotlight, to talk about his precious time with George Michael and, in doing so, remind us of why the world loved Wham!
