A 21-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries following an alleged road rage attack in Perth.

Two drivers got into an altercation when one, a 21-year-old driving a black Suzuki Swift, believed a white Mitsubishi Triton was tailgating him along Thomas Road in Medina last night and pulled over at Brownell Crescent car park.

The driver of the Mitsubishi allegedly did a U-turn and ploughed into the driver's side of the Suzuki Swift, got out of his car and yelled out to the 21-year-old, asking if he "wants to go (fight)," according to an eye witness.

The 21-year-old jumped out of the way but the other driver allegedly attacked him with a knife, leaving stab wounds to his neck and chest.

He was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital in a serious condition.

Police, who alleged the attack was random, arrested a 29-year-old man about midday but he has not been charged.

Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage of the area at the time of the incident, is asked to contact the authorities.
