Conservative politician caught on hidden camera urinating in coffee mug

A Canadian political candidate has made a splash on social media after video emerged of him urinating in a mug.

The hash tag #peegate started trending on Twitter soon after footage emerged of Conservative candidate Jerry Bance using a coffee mug to relieve himself.

The video was taken in 2012 when Mr Bance was a service technician fixing a kitchen sink.

Footage shows him grab a mug, pee in it then empty the contents down the sink he was fixing.

The video was made as part of hidden camera television show called Marketplace, which attempts to catch repairmen overcharging their customers, CBC News reports.

Conservative spokesman Stephen Lecce said that Mr Bance had been dropped as a candidate in the Toronto-area of Scarborough-Rouge Park.

Mr Bance released a statement in the aftermath of the scandal and said "I deeply regret my actions on that day".

"The footage from that day does not reflect who I am as a professional or a person," he said.

It was a tough day for the Tories with another Toronto candidate, Tim Dutaud, also dropped only hours after Mr Bance.

The split was announced after YouTube videos surfaced of Mr Dutaud making prank phone calls which included derogatory comments about people with disabilities.
