Young boy with cancer receives his wish to meet The Rock

A seven-year-old US boy who has been receiving treatment for neuroblastoma for four years has finally had his dream come true after meeting Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

Gabriel ‘Tater’ Singleton initially posted an image of himself on Facebook in February with a handmade sign, appealing to the social media community to “please share” the picture to help him meet his hero.

“I’ve been in cancer treatment for over four years. Losing my hair made me sad but seeing you rock your bald head made it easier,” he wrote.

The Children’s Hospital at Erlanger shared the post, which created a chain reaction of social media activity.

The post has since been shared almost 5,000 times.

The viral sensation was enough to reach The Rock, who responded to Tater’s request with a widely-shared Facebook post in March.

“Guess what buddy? I’m coming to meet you! Then I want you to be my special guest on our Baywatch set in Savannah, GA,” he wrote.

When the two finally met last week, he shared photos of them together on Instagram, telling his followers it had “been a long time coming, but I finally met the one and only ‘Tater’”.

“Spent all afternoon with Tater and his beautiful family,” he wrote.

“I told him he’s already way stronger than I’ll ever be.”

The two spent time on the set of Baywatch, laughing and chatting in between scenes.

Tater’s handmade T-shirts labelled ‘Strong as the Rock’ and ‘Live like Tater’ and his Rock action figure, moved the Rock to emotion.

“Lots of tears were shed among us. Joyful tears. Grateful tears,” he wrote.

Tater’s mother thanked Johnson on Facebook for “making my sons dream come true.”

“Thanks… for giving him so much love and attention,” she wrote.
