Qatar’s first entry into the super-vehicle market has been widely panned by critics as the 'world’s ugliest car'.

Elibriea, the first car of its kind to be released from the Middle-Eastern country made its debut at the Qatar Motor Show on January 28.

However not even the gold-painted exterior and General Motors V6 engine generating 535 horsepower could take the focus off the vehicles strange design which features a pointed spoiler and a dipped nose.

A sneak peak of the vehicle on YouTube didn't receive the positive response the manufacturer had hoped for with many users lambasting the car's 'ugly' design.

"Hands down the ugliest car I have ever seen. It's just ... Holy crap, I do not even know what to say," one user wrote.

"I mean, how is it even possible to design something like this? Were they using 3D software with their eyes closed?"

Despite the criticism, if nothing else the Arab car company has designed something unique that may very well appeal to die-hard sports car enthusiasts.

Designer Abdul Wahab Ziaullah came up with the Elibriea while studying at Texas A&M at Qatar.

Elibriea announced on its website pre-orders will begin from March for a December release.
