The daughter of the Azerbaijan president has come under fire for taking selfies and giggling during her father’s genocide and war crimes speech to the United Nation.

Ilham Aliyev was mid-way through his speech to the UN General Assembly last week when news cameras panned around the room, settling on Mr Aliyev’s wife and his daughter.

As the President spoke about Armenia’s 1992 war crimes which slaughtered 613 “peaceful residents”, his wife and Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva and daughter, Leyla Aliyeva, appear visibly stunned as he accuses the current Armenian president of being responsible.

Appearing not to notice the cameras on her, Ms Aliyeva is quick to document her reaction with a mock “shocked face” selfie.

The inappropriate gesture has since led to Ms Aliyeva being called out on social media.

“Here’s why you don’t bring your kids to work,” on Twitter user wrote.

“Pretty incredible images from UNGA today of Aliyev’s 1st daughter during his speech,” another wrote.
